Maughanhome -- Project list for discussing the build of our new MaughanHome

About Maughanhome
English (USA)

Greetings all,

I have for some time been wishing to build a general Maughan presence on the web, and to this end set up a discussion list for Maughans back in 1998 at makelist, which became onelist, then egroups, then yahoogroups - together with all the ads.

I've now moved that list to its new home here (maughans-subscribe@maughan.ie if you're interested).

In the time since 1998 I have gathered a variety of resources, information & artefacts towards that goal, some of which I have shared with the Maughans list & some not.

A 2-hour transatlantic telecon with Arlene Henley (who has created amongst others the Book of Peter Maughan) helped clarify that not only were our individual goals closer than we had realised but that we were unlikely to achieve them as fully as we would like working on our own.

Thus was born the MaughanHome project, the aim being to create a shared Maughan community web resource where all Maughan Society, Maughan & Maughan-related interests could be gathered together in one place - whilst at the same time ensuring individual contributions, family sites & so one were recognised. A true Maughan "destination site" which could be supported into the future by the Maughan community and would be a legacy to our family for generations to come. It might sound a little grandiose but that really is what we want to do.

To move the project along I have set up this dedicated mailing list for discussions relating to the project only; normal Maughan matters should be discussed on the main list at maughans-subscribe@maughan.ie.

The project will report on its progress to the Maughans list as it goes along and will gather opinion as to the best way to go forward. All inputs will be welcome; you can make comments there as you wish. If you feel you have something more to offer the project in terms of knowledge, content and/or time do please let me know (either via the Maughans list or direct to mike@maughan.co.uk) and I'll discuss this with the team at the time.

This will not happen overnight; there is a great deal of work yet to be done but as we flesh out a plan we will naturally share this with you for comment.

Regards to all for now, but there will be more to come!

- Mike
